Four Pac-12 players make Wooden List, several got snubbed

Four Pac-12 players were among the 50 included on the John R. Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 list.
National college basketball media members chose California senior guard Jorge Gutierrez and Bears sophomore guard Allen Crabbe, UCLA junior forward Reeves Nelson and Bruins sophomore center Joshua Smith.
Gutierrez and Nelson are the only returning first-team all-Pac-10 performers from last season while Crabbe was the conference’s Freshman of the Year and Smith was voted to the all-freshman team.
The list is comprised of players who are the early frontrunners to capture the award based on last season’s performances and team records. Transfers, freshmen and medical redshirts are not eligible for the preseason list.
The midseason list is open to everyone and is comprised of 30 players. That group is trimmed to 20 at the end of the season who are eligible for the Wooden All American Team that consists of the nation’s top 10 players.
ESPN’s Andy Katz list several players who were snubbed, but have a shot at playing their way on the list at some point this season. The Pac-12 players include: UW’s Terrence Ross, Arizona’s Kyle Fogg and Josiah Turner, Oregon State’s Jared Cunningham, Oregon’s Jabari Brown and Arizona Sate’s Jahii Carson.
