Florida Atlantic live game thread

IT’S OVER — UW 77-71.
DOWN TO FOUR — UW 74-70, 1:21.
BAD PASS — Wroten tried to connect with N’Diaye, but his pass rolled out of bounds. He was pulled from the game and Wilcox came in. UW 72-64, 2:53.
HANGING AROUND — The Panthers aren’t going anywhere. UW 68-62, 5:09.
WHERE’S GANT? — After scoring a career-high 18 points in the opener, Gant is scoreless. He’s taken two shots. He’s not looking for his shot and guys are looking him off. Gaddy and Ross had a chance to hit him for an open three, but they looked him off. Gaddy passed to Wilcox and Ross drove to the rack where he missed a layup. UW 63-53, 7:47.
CLOSE GAME — Wilcox and Gaddy each converted three-point plays to keep the Panthers at bay. Wilcox made a layup despite being fouled and hit the ensuing free throw, while Gaddy drilled his first three-pointer this season. Wroten also collected his fourth foul and he’s out of the game. UW 61-51, 9:15.
MOMENTUM TURNING — The Huskies have shot 31 percent in the second half, while the Panthers are 64 percent. Romar nearly got a technical for protesting a non-call on Gaddy, who stumbled to the floor after getting tangled with a FAU player. UW 53-44, 11:26.
LOOK OUT! — Wroten raced down court in traffic and whipped a no-look pass over his shoulder that sailed into the stands. He intended the pass to Ross, who wasn’t expecting the delivery. Ross shot him a quizzical look as if to say: Was that to me? UW 51-42, 12:11.
PULLING AWAY? — Wilcox drained three free throws to give UW a 51-37 lead with 12:57 left.
HEATING UP — Wilcox has connected on three-point shots on consecutive possessions. UW 43-28, 15:25.
BLOCK PARTY — N’Diaye and Ross each had nice blocks early in the second half. UW 40-28, 16:20.
WROTEN CHECKS IN — Wroten subs for Gaddy. UW 37-28, 17:19.
N’DIAYE STRUGGLES — N’Diaye has gotten some nice looks around the basket, but he’s been unable to finish. He missed two layups in traffic, but managed to connect on a pair of FTs. UW 37-26, 18:30.
SECOND HALF — Same starters.
HALFTIME OBSERVATIONS — The free throw shooting isn’t very good for either team. Washington is 9 for 15 (60 percent) at the line and Florida Atlantic is 5 of 13 (38.5 percent). Gaddy has played a steady game. He’s connected on 4 of 5 field goals for a game-high nine points. He also has three assists and two rebounds. Everyone else has struggled to find their shots. Wilcox is 2 for 6 for six points. Wroten is 1 for 7 for three points. Ross is 2, but he has seven points.
Defensively the Huskies are tormenting the Owls at times. FAU is shooting 32 percent from the floor (8 of 25). Washington is extending its defense and challenging everything. Wilcox has career-high four steals.
The referees are calling a tight game. The teams have combined for 42 fouls.
HALFTIME STATS — Click here.
HALFTIME — UW 35-24.

BREAK IN THE ACTION — Officials are reviewing Wilcox’s last shot to make sure it was a three-pointer. The Dawg Pack is singing the theme song from Jeopardy and chanting “We have homework.” The crowd is getting antsy. And after further review … it’s a three. That took about seven minutes. UW 35-22, 1:15.
FOUL TROUBLE — White (6-8) and Penn (6-6), FAU’s biggest players, have three fouls. UW 35-22. 1:15.
FINISHING LINEUP? — The Huskies have all the starters except Gant on the floor. Simmons is also there. UW 30-22, 1:58.
JARVIS JAWING — Jarvis is still talking to the refs. About what? I don’t know. But he’s consistent. At nearly every break, he’s in their ear. He’s so demonstrative that it’s somewhat entertaining. UW 29-19, 3:56.
SIMMONS TAKES THE HIT — Simmons took a charge in the lane. Good play. UW 29-19, 3:56.
WROTEN RETURNS — Wroten replaces Gaddy. UW 24-19, 5:30.
DUNK THAT! — Wilcox picked a pass in the backcourt and raced to rim with two players in pursuit. He had a good head start, but instead of dunking went up for a layup that rolled off the rim. UW 24-12, 5:59.
FRESHMEN CONTRIBUTING — Breunig has three rebounds in three points. Stewart has been solid running the offense. UW 24-12, 7:05.
AWFUL SHOOTING — Calvin Murphy must be rolling over in his grave. The Huskies are 6 for 11 on FTs and FAU is 3 for 7. UW 22-10, 8:28.
RUNNING THE POINT — Stewart is running the offense and Gaddy is the off guard. UW 20-8, 9:12.
TECHNICAL — FAU coach Mike Jarvis picked up a technical foul. Ross hit both FTs. UW 20-8, 9:38.
FOURTH SUB — Hikeem Stewart is in for Wilcox. UW 15-8, 9:41.
THIRD SUB — Martin Breunig is in for Simmons. FAU F Jelani Floyd injured his shoulder while scrambling for a ball. UW 15-4, 11:01.
THIRD FOUL — Wroten picked up his third foul trying while attempting to steal. He’s out of the game. Wilcox is back in. UW 13-4, 11:56.
POOR FT SHOOTING — The Huskies are shooting 42.9 percent (3 of 7) from the free throw line. UW 13-4, 12:31.
MISMATCH — Wroten (6-5) looks like a giant defending Taylor (5-6). He’s trying to post the smaller guard, but has missed his first four attempts. UW 11-1, 13:57.
SECOND SUB — Desmond Simmons is in for Gant. UW 10-1, 15:48.
GREAT DEFENSE — The Huskies have held FAU to 0-for-6 shooting. They also forced two turnovers. UW 10-1, 15:48.
NEW UNIS? — The Huskies are wearing gold uniforms with a silhouette of the library on the back. I don’t remember these from last year. A school spokesman was unsure if they’re new. UW 10-1, 16:23.
FIRST SUB — Tony Wroten Jr. is in for Ross. UW 5-1, 17:36.
UNEVEN START — The Huskies began with consecutive turnovers, but they’ve scored on the next three possessions. UW 5-1, 17:59.
LUCAS TO KANSAS — The Huskies lost 2012 recruit Landen Lucas to Kansas. The Jayhawks swooped in late and nabbed the 3-star prospect from Portland. Lucas visited UW on Nov. 5 and was supposed to make a decision this weekend between California, Stanford and Tennessee. Kansas asked him to visit Thursday. He agreed and apparently he liked what he saw.
STARTING LINEUPS — Washington: G Abdul Gaddy, G C.J. Wilcox, C Aziz N’Diaye, F Darnell Gant and F Terrence Ross.
Florida Atlantic: F Kore White, F Kelvin Penn, G Greg Gantt, G Alex Tucker and G Raymond Taylor. Penn is starting in place of Jordan McCoy who started Saturday.
PRE-GAME WARMUP — Not sure if this is new or not, but UW’s guards are out first and they’re going through a shooting drill. The bigs are nowhere in site. We’re about 40 minutes before tip off.
NO TV — Today’s game will not be televised, which means it won’t be online either. You can listen to action on the radio. Tune into KJR AM. Play-by-play man Bob Rondeau is back after missing Saturday’s game because he was in Los Angeles with the football team.
PILOTS FLYING HIGH — Portland beat Georgia State 66-61 in today’s opener.
