This is how you start a breakout campaign. C.J. Wilcox began the season with modest expectations, but he’s quickly emerging as one of the best players for Washington and one of the top players in the Pac-12.
The sophomore guard won the first ever Pac-12 Player of the Week award after leading the Huskies in scoring in a pair of victories over the weekend.
On Saturday he scored 22 points in a 91-74 win over Georgia State. Wilcox converted 8 of 12 field goals, including five three-pointers. He also notched six rebounds, three assists and two steals.
On Sunday he tallied a game-high 19 points, including three three-point shots, in UW’s 77-71 victory over Florida Atlantic. Wilcox also collected a career-high four steals and tied his personal best with two blocks.
After two games, Wilcox is averaging 20.5 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.0 bpg and 3.0 spg while shooting 8-of-13 (61.5 percent) behind the arc.

Other nominees included:
Arizona’s Kyle Fogg; Arizona State’s Keala King, California’s Allen Crabbe, Colorado’s Andre Roberson, Oregon State’s Joe Burton and Stanford’s Aaron Bright, the former Bellevue High standout.
