Pac-12 is perfect 4-0 on rare night of perfection

No. 24 California shook off a sluggish start before taking control in the second half and downing McNeese State for a 73-57 victory at Haas Pavilion.
Jorge Gutierrez finished with 26 points, six rebounds and five assists for the Golden Bears. Allen Crabbe scored 20 and Harper Kamp 10 amd Richard Solomon had 10 rebounds.
The 16-point victory was a nice tuneup for Cal (6-1), which plays at San Diego State (7-1) on Sunday. The Aztecs beat Arizona and USC this season.
AROUND THE PAC-12:
— Stanford proved why it has the best defense in the Pac-12 during a 79-37 demolishing of Pacific. The Cardinal (6-1) held the Tigers to 14 points in the second half. Chasson Randle and Josh Owens led Stanford with 14 points each.
— Sophomore center Joshua Smith returned to the starting lineup for the first time in nearly a year and produced six rebounds, four points and two blocks in 12 minutes. Despite the shaky performance, the Bruins (2-4) played its best game of the season and toppled Pepperdine 62-39. Lazeric Jones had 14 points and David Wear and Norman Powell each had 10.
— Good win for Colorado (4-2), which held on to a 70-68 victory over Georgia at the Coors Events Center. Freshmen guards Spencer Dinwiddie (16 points) and Askia Booker (14) each tallied career highs in scoring. Andre Roberson recorded his fifth double double (15 points and 15 rebounds) and Carlon Brown had 10 points.
