Arizona falls to Gonzaga, UCLA wins third straight

The Pac-12 was perfect this week before posting a 2-3 record Saturday.
— Arizona never led and trailed by as many as 20 to Gonzaga in the Battle of Seattle. Still the Wildcats made it close at the end before falling 71-60 in front of a sold-out KeyArena crowd. The Wildcats (7-4) had no answer for the Bulldogs front line of Elias Harris (25 points and eight rebounds) and Robert Sacre (10 points). Kyle Fogg scored 14 points and Nick Johnson had 13 points and six assists.
— The sleeping giant looks like its waking up. UCLA destroyed UC Davis 82-39 in its most lopsided victory of the season. It was the third straight win for the Bruins since dismissing Reeves Nelson. UCLA was also without Travis Wear (skin infection) and De’End Parker (knee).
— Stanford returned from a 13-day layoff and pummeled San Diego 75-55 to improve to 9-1. Josh Owens scored a game-high 17 and Chasson Randle 15.
Stallon Saldivar drained a three-pointer with less than a second left and scored 24 points to lead Northern Arizona to a thrilling 69-68 win at Arizona State. It’s a heartbreaking defeat for the Sun Devils who never trailed until the final second. Keala King led ASU (4-6) with 16 points.
— While UCLA has three straight wins, across town USC (4-7) has lost three straight. The Trojans lost 63-59 at home to Georgia.
