Report: Tony Wroten Pac-12 POY candidate?

Thanks to Patrick Blair for the highlights (above) of Washington’s win 76-60 win over Oregon. Blair also produced a video clip of Washington’s 95-80 win over Oregon State.
Here’s a few links from around the Pac-12.
— Wrote about Abdul Gaddy for today’s newspaper. Today is the one-year anniversary since he suffered a left knee injury that cut short his sophomore season.
Bud Withers pens a column on Utah’s troubles.
— Seems a bit premature, but Doug Haller at the Arizona Republic wonders if UW freshman Tony Wroten Jr. is a Pac-12 Player of the Year candidate? Since 1975, only two freshmen (Cal’s Shareef Abdur-Rahim and UCLA’s Kevin Love) have won the conference’s top prize.
— The Everett Herald writes the Huskies are beginning to understand that defense wins championships.
— The News Tribune recounts coach Lorenzo Romar’s story about how he plans to deal with the high altitude in Colorado.
— Colorado Andre Roberson leads the Pac-12 with a 12.0 rebound per game average. He’s drawing comparisons to Dennis Rodman.
Bob Clark at the Register-Guard writes a Pac-12 roundup with power rankings. He also writes about the Buffaloes.
— Nice story by Jeff Faraudo at the Mercury News who wrote about California’s Robert Thurman. The walk-on junior center scored a career-high 11 points against Josh Smith and UCLA last week. He played 70 minutes in 10 games prior to the Bruins matchup.
— In a matchup of former UW stars-turned NBA backups, Isaiah Thomas finished with 15 points, five rebounds in three assists for Sacramento while Quincy Pondexter had four points for Memphis. The Grizzlies won 113-96.
— The injury-depleted Golden State Warriors need a guard and it looks as if they’ll sign former UW star Nate Robinson, a free agent.
