Video: UW-Utah highlights

Thanks to Patrick Blair for the highlights (above) from Washington’s 57-53 win at Utah.
SUNDAY MORNING LINKS:
— Here’s a take on Washington’s win from the Salt Lake Tribune.
— Washington plays Seattle University on Tuesday. The Redhawks are struggling this season. Saturday they fell to 3-10 after a 77-72 defeat at Utah Valley.
— Not sure there will be a better regular season Pac-12 game than the one that took place Saturday night in Corvallis, Ore. Stanford and Oregon State began their game at 7 p.m. and three hours later they played four overtimes and 20 extra minutes in the Cardinal’s 103-101 win. The game was tied 76-76 after regulation.
— Colorado sits on top of the Pac-12 standings with a perfect 3-0 record following a 71-60 win over Washington State. Not discounting what the Buffaloes have achieved, but let’s not go ga-ga over their fast conference start. They visit the Bay area schools next week. Senior guard Carlon Brown finished with 28 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block against the Cougars. He’s the leading candidate to win the Pac-12 Player of the Week award on Monday. But Devoe Joseph may have something to say about that. The Oregon senior guard tallied 30 points Thursday and plays Jorge Gutierrez and California today.
— WSU coach Ken Bone decided to play a 2-3 zone against Colorado and the Buffaloes torched the Cougars. Sound familiar? Washington tried a similar tactic in the second half of its 87-69 loss Thursday.
Josh Smith came off the bench and played his best game of the season and led UCLA to a 75-58 win at home over Arizona State. The Bruins center finished with 18 points (one below his career-high) and four rebounds in 21 minutes.
— Starters Keala King, Kyle Cain and reserve Chris Colvin didn’t make the Los Angeles trip because of a disciplinary suspension and for the second straight game Arizona State played with just six scholarship players. The short-handed Sun Devils managed to beat USC on Thursday, but they couldn’t pull off another upset.
— USC coach Kevin O’Neill said the Trojans lack a leader.
