Arizona State live game thread

IT’S OVER — UW 60-54.
FOUR ON N’DIAYE — N’Diaye picked up his fourth foul on a ticky-tack call. UW 47-41, 2:33.
HIGHLIGHT — Wroten flushed a thunderous jam on Gilling. My goodness that was nice. He was fouled and made the free throw. UW 46-39, 5:35.
LAST GASP — Sendek used another timeout. He’s got one left. He knows this game is getting away from the Sun Devils. UW 43-33, 9:17.
LOSE THAT JACKET — Sendek is out of his nice suit jacket now. He’s standing with his hands on hips with a look of exasperation. The Huskies are on a 14-1 run. UW 36-25, 14:11.
NICE RUN — The Huskies have outscored the Sun Devils 11-1 in the second half. They’ve forced two turnovers and ASU has missed three open three-point shots. UW 33-25, 15:41.
ANOTHER TIMEOUT — The Sun Devils burn another timeout. They have two left. UW 31-25, 16:40.
SMART TIMEOUT — ASU coach Herb Sendek called a timeout after the Huskies scored on three straight possessions to start the second half. Maybe Washington if finding some momentum. UW 29-25, 17:51.
DEFENSIVE LAPSE — Simmons is out of the game after falling asleep on defense and allowing Gilling to get into the lane. Gant is in. UW 27-25,18:34.
SECOND HALF — Same starters.
HALFTIME OBSERVATIONS — The statistics weren’t as ugly as I thought. Washington shot 38.5 percent (10 of 26) and ASU was 37.0 percent (10 of 27). The Huskies were 0 for 3 on three-pointers.
Considering Washington managed a season-low 22 points in the first half, it could be worse.
The funny thing is, UW’s defense hasn’t been that great. The Huskies have lost Gilling a few times and he’s burned them for eight points on 3-for-7 shooting.
The Huskies are getting decent looks. They’ve scored 16 points inside and six off of turnovers. They’re just not getting second-chance points. Washington has three offensive rebounds.
This looks like it’s going to be a close game so it’s imperative UW gets better at the line. The Huskies are 2 for 6. ASU has not taken a free throw.
HALFTIME CEREMONY — Fats Lever is on the court. The jersey retirement ceremony is starting. Fans are on their feet. The Rocky theme is blaring on the speakers.
HALFTIME STATS — Click here.
HALFTIME — ASU 24-22.

GOING ZONE — The Huskies have switched to a zone defense. They forced two turnovers and a bad three-pointer. UW 21-20, 1:09.
HOT HAND — It’s safe to say, the Huskies shouldn’t leave Gilling. He has eight points. Not sure if he’s missed more than 1-2 shots. He’s a good shooter. Moves well without the ball. UW 21-20, 2:33.
FOURTH SUB — Shawn Kemp Jr. is in for ASJ. UW 21-17, 3:35.
ASJ SCORES — Mark it. Seferian-Jenkin scored his first basket. A layup. Wroten assist. Pretty cool play. Wroten drove the middle and drew two defenders before dishing to the big man. UW 17-15, 7:10.
IT”S NOT UGLY, IT’S … — Struggling to find the words to describe this game. Let’s just say both teams are having difficulty getting the ball in the basket. UW 7-7, 11:59.
WILCOX CHECKS IN — Wilcox is in the game. Wroten checks out. UW 7-7, 12:57.
NO WILCOX — Curious Wilcox wasn’t among the first subs. The report that he’s available came from UW’s sports information staff. Wilcox is normally the first person off the bench. Maybe Romar is trying to monitor his minutes. But if he doesn’t check in soon, perhaps he won’t return tonight. ASU 7-4, 15:14.
FIRST SUBS — Darnell Gant and Austin Seferian-Jenkins are in. ASU 7-4, 15:54.
NO LOCKETT — Trent Lockett (ankle) is not starting, which probably means he’s not playing.
STARTING LINEUPS — No change for UW: Tony Wroten Jr., Terrence Ross, Abdul Gaddy, Desmond Simmons and Aziz N’Diaye.
ASU: F Carrick Felix, F Jonathan Gilling, C Ruslan Pateev, G Chris Colvin and G Chanse Creekmur.
WILCOX AVAILABLE — C.J. Wilcox is available tonight.
FIRST ON THE FLOOR — The Huskes have been shooting around for about 20 minutes. Haven’t seen ASU just yet.
TIME FOR A REMODEL — Not sure how old this arena is, but it’s time for an overhaul. The place needs a few more bells and whistles. It feels old. Probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to downsize the place a bit as well. The capacity is 10,700. That’s about 3,000 more than this place needs.
SWITCHEROO — It’s problem no big deal, but the folks at Wells Fargo Arena changed the player’s seating. The ‘bench’ was on the other side of the scorer’s table. At least it was last year. Tonight the bench is on the same side of the scorer’s table.
GUEST OF HONOR — Ran into Lafayette ‘Fat’ Lever as I was walking into the building. Arizona State is retiring his No. 12 jersey at halftime. Lorenzo Romar called Lever the most technically sound player he’s ever seen. It’s a big night for Lance LaVetter, UW’s basketball of operations. He grew up with Lever and refers to the ASU great as a brother.
