Wroten FOY finalist, stars in upcoming film

Washington guard Tony Wroten Jr. is among five finalists selected by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association for the 2012 Wayman Tisdale Award, which is given to the nation’s most outstanding first-year player.
The other finalists include: Kentucky teammates Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Duke’s Austin Rivers and Indiana’s Cody Zeller.
The winner will be announced at the USBWA College Basketball Awards Breakfast on March 30 in New Orleans in conjunction with the NCAA Men’s Final Four.
Wroten is tied for fourth in the nation in scoring at 16.4 points per game. He also averages 4.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.9 steals.
The UW freshman is also starring in an upcoming film ‘Loyal to the Game.’ Here’s the movie trailer (below).
