Arizona live game thread

IT’S OVER — UW 79-70.
NICE MOVE — Romar got Sherrer out of the game. He got a nice applause from the crowd.
SHERRER TIME — Sherrer checked back in. He replaced Gant. UW 77-67, 38.2.
GETTING HEATED — Gant and Chol got testy with each other. UW 73-62, 2:00.
IN CONTROL — Romar smartly called timeout to get Gaddy in the game while the Huskies have the ball. UW 73-62, 3:08
DEJA VU — In the last game, the Huskies had a 10-point lead with 4:02 remaining. Guess what, they’re up again by 10 with 4:03 left. Wow.
FOUL TROUBLE — Now N’Diaye has four fouls. UW 72-62, 4:09.
C.J. TIME — Wilcox scored on a putback and collected a steal. He nearly had another basket, but his layup rolled out. The crowd is in it now. It’s yelling: “Go Huskies!” UW 72-61, 4:27.
FOUL TROUBLE — Gaddy and Perry each have four fouls.
GETTING GOOD — For some reason, Arizona has left Wilcox open and he’s making them pay. He’s got two three-pointers in the last three trips. UW 70-61, 5:39.
THERE GOES THAT MAN — Wroten electrified the crowd when he raced the distance and flushed on Chol. Poster. It’s probably already on YouTube. Another amazing play in a game filled with them. UW 62-56, 8:28.
FOUL TROUBLE — Gaddy has four fouls. Ross is back in. UW 60-54, 9:49.
TOUGH KID — Ross is on Hill. He’s giving up about 30 pounds. Hill backed him down and Ross appears to have tweaked something. He’s out of the game. Gaddy is in. UW 58-53, 10:21.
REF MISHAP — The refs are going to look at the monitor to get their act straight. One ref called a blocking foul and the other called a charge. Neither is budging. They called a double foul. Chump move. Never seen that before. One of them should have backed down. Too bad. The Huskies are not getting any breaks with the officials. The refs gave Arizona the ball with two seconds and Fogg drained a long jumper. UW 55-52, 11:41.
ANOTHER BAD CALL — Wilcox looked as if he got a great steal when he dove for the ball, but the refs called traveling. Romar went ballistic. UW 53-48, 13:19.
GOOD START — Ross energized the crowd when he stole a pass and raced in for a layup. Wroten is also getting inside the Arizona defense for three layups. The Huskies are on an 8-4 run. Miller called timeout. UW 47-41, 17:29.
SECOND HALF — N’Diaye replaces Sherrer in the starting lineup. No changes for Arizona.
HALFTIME OBSERVATIONS — Washington leads by two points, but feels as if it should be much more. The Huskies took control around the 14-minute mark and they had a 11-point lead. Arizona has managed to hang around thanks to a balanced attack.
Ross has been the early star and he has 15 points on 7-for-11 shooting. Wroten is being super aggressive once again and has 10 points. He’s taken 14 shots, but in reality he’s had seven scoring opportunities and has taken so many shots because he misses the first attempt and gets the rebound for a putback. still it’s notable that Wilcox has yet to attempt a shot in 11 minutes.
Nice job by N’Diaye who is being a big presence in the middle and has seven rebounds and six rebounds. Gaddy is also making a contribution with four assists. Gant is energized, but it hasn’t shown up in the stats.
The Huskies have attempted 38 shots and they are 1 of 10 on three-pointers. They’re shooting 39.5 percent from the field. They’ve also forced seven turnovers and have only three.
Arizona is attacking N’Diaye on the pick n’ roll with Hill and Perry. It’s a tricky problem for the Huskies. Whenever N’Diaye gives help, he’s exposed and Perry finishes at the rim. He has six points. Fogg has a team-high nine points, but a few baskets have come off of hustle plays. He’s being active.
The key for Washington is Hill and Perry. The Huskies need to figure out a plan to slow them down and make Arizona’s guards try and win the game from the perimeter.
HALFTIME STATS — Click here.
HALFTIME — UW 39-37.

REALLY BAD CALL — Gant drew foul. Really late whistle. UW 39-37, 0.4.
RECORD-SETTER — Wroten with ties UW freshman record 202 FT attempts by Isaiah Thomas. UW 39-35, 0.34.
GETTING PHYSICAL — Wroten is overpowering Johnson in the post. He has five rebounds. Arizona’s only retort is to foul. UW 39-35, 1:55.
IRVINE IN THE HOUSE — Former UW star George Irvine is being recognized.
SMART MOVE — After an missed three-pointer from Gaddy, Wroten went to the post. With Johnson on his hip and drew a foul on Angelo Chol. Wroten made 1 of 2. UW 38-32, 3:50.
QUESTIONABLE CALL — Ross picked up his second foul when it looked as if he picked Johnson clean. Make up call for N’Diaye’s so-called travel. UW 37-32, 4:20.
ANOTHER SICK PLAY — Ross leapt over Fogg for a rebound and scored on a putback. UW 37-30, 4:26.
STRANGE TIMEOUT — Miller called timeout after the Wildcats scored five unanswered points. Seems strange. Somewhere Phil Jackson is shaking his head. UW 35-30, 5:18.
PUTBACK KING — Wroten has eight points and has scored at least three baskets rebounding his missed attempts. He’s 3 of 10 from the field. UW 33-25, 6:18.
HIGHLIGHT — Ross flushed an alley-oop pass from Wroten. On the other end, Brendan Lavender answered with a three-pointer. Good action. The Huskies are in control and have recovered from a slow start. Maybe it’s me, but the place is still shaking from N’Diaye’s big play. UW 31-23, 7:16.
QUICK STARTER — Ross has 11 points on 5-for-7 shooting. UW 27-20, 9:00.
FOURTH SUB — Shawn Kemp Jr. is in. UW 25-18, 10:26.
MORE ON N’DIAYE — That was the best play I’ve seen from N’Diaye. Ever. It was an athletic maneuver. Not sure what was more impressive. The block was nice. Being able to drive over and around a guard was also nice. But the finish was really amazing. N’Diaye made one and maybe two dribbles and got enough momentum going to the rim to elevate over Hill and jam a dunk that rattled in. Again it was a great play. UW 21-16, 11:55.
NO HE DIDN’T — N’Diaye and Ross blocked Johnson’s shot. N’Diaye grabbed the loose ball, dribbled over Johnson and flushed on Hill for an amazing play. The crowd went crazy and Sean Miller got a technical. Wilcox made both free throws. UW 21-14, 12:34.
THIRD SUB — C.J. Wilcox is in. UW 15-14, 13:27.
NBA MOVE — The refs give Ross continuation after he drew contact and made short jumper dribble drive. He also sank another short jumper to give the Huskies their first lead. UW 12-10, 14:20.
SLOW START — Not sure if the new lineup had anything to do with it, but slow start for the Huskies who are shooting 37.5 percent (3 of 8) from the field. UA 10-8, 15:37.
SECOND SUB — Simmons is in for Gant. UA 9-6, 16:32.
FIRST SUB — N’Diaye is in for Sherrer. UA 7-2, 17:47.
N’DIAYE ON DECK — N’Diaye is at the scorer’s table. UA 5-2, 18:41.
FIRED UP — Gant is hyped. He’s trying to get the crowd amped as well. Ross is in the circle for the tip off.
TOO COOL — Sherrer got his name called in the starting lineup and he acted as if he’d heard that a hundred times. No emotion. He played it cool. Stepped on the court. Fist bumped and took his place next to Ross.
CAPACITY — Good crowd. We’re near tip off and the place is almost filled.
HILARIOUS — In the Hec Ed tunnel just outside the locker room, Sherrer jumped in the middle of the pre-game circle and did some type of dance that defies description. Gotta love his effort.
STARTING LINEUP — Aziz N’Diaye and Desmond Simmons will sit down today while Sherrer and Gant start. The other starters include: Abdul Gaddy, Tony Wroten Jr. and Terrence Ross.
Arizona: G Kyle Fogg, G Nick Johnson, G Josiah Turner, F Solomon Hill and F Jesse Perry.
GANT AND SHERRER TO START — Romar is sticking to tradition and will start the seniors.
DAWG PACK ALUM — And now Sherrer. The Dawg Pack went crazy for their former member.
NO TEARS — Folks thought Gant would cry, but he’s relishing the moment. He’s smiling and engaging with the crowd.
TY — Nice ovation for Breshers.
SENIOR DAY CEREMONY — The Huskies are starting a ceremony to recognize seniors Darnell Gant, Brendan Sherrer, Tyreese Breshers and managers Kegan Bone, Jordan En’Wezoh and Yong Kim.
THAT’S COOL — Members of the Dawg Pack recited Gus Johnson’s famous call of Isaiah Thomas’ shot as it replayed on the video board.
MAYES UPDATE — Jordin Mayes (stress fracture foot) is on the court. According to a tweet from Arizona Daily Star’s Bruce Pascoe he’ll only play in an emergency situation.
LUKEWARM — I assumed this place would be crazy, but maybe the fans are pacing themselves. We got about 24 minutes before tip off and it’s a fairly stale environment. It’s also a late-arriving crowd.
BIG WINNER — Just met scgotts who stopped by to pick up his winnings. Nice chat.
A-TEAM — Kevin Calabro and Marques Johnson are calling the game for FSN. Good to see those guys.
