Former UW player Greg Jack passes away

Greg Jack, a former Washington basketball player, died Saturday night at home in Mercer Island, at age 58. He had been suffering for years from multiple sclerosis.
Jack, a 6-foot-6 forward, was an All-American at Mercer Island High School, from which he graduated in 1972. He was valedictorian, with a 4.0 grade-point average.
Jack averaged 16.1 points and 8.9 rebounds on the Huskies’ junior varsity team as a freshman. He redshirted his second season at UW, then was a role player in 1974-75 and 1975-76, averaging 2.4 points his final season as the Huskies advanced to the NCAA tournament.
Jack graduated from UW in 1977, then from the Thomas Jefferson University medical college in Philadelphia. He worked as an ophthalmologist in the Seattle area until his MS made it impossible for him to continue.
Jack, who had been wheelchair bound for more than 20 years, is survived by his daughters, Sari, 25, and Jana, 22.
