SI report expected to detail drug use at UCLA; OSU coach Craig Robinson reprimanded

You might want to wake up early Wednesday and go to Sports Illustrated’s website because the magazine is expected to publish an expose on the UCLA men’s basketball program detailing marijuana use by former players.
During his weekly press conference today, coach Ben Howland acknowledged there’s some serious allegations in the report.
Here’s a partial transcript of Howland’s news conference.
When asked are you aware of a drug problem on your team, he replied: “Specifically I can’t talk about any former player or student relative having to do with that. We have a comprehensive drug policy here at UCLA where any time someone fails a random drug test, I’m alerted, the trainer is alerted and the person overseeing the drug policy here. And there is a very good and outstanding program in place for student athletes of all teams to receive education and receive counseling and to receive discipline.”
Howland was also asked if he saw a player do something inappropriate, did he think he handled those things correctly?
“Yeah, I think for the most part, I have,” he said. “I’d have to go back and look at specifics. You’re speaking in generalities. No one is perfect. I would never claim to be that person. Everybody makes mistakes. I’m definitely not perfect.”
It remains to be seen what type of distraction the story will be for UCLA, which hosts Washington at 11 a.m. Saturday in the regular-season finale.
Meanwhile, the Pac-12 reprimanded Oregon State coach Craig Robinson on Tuesday for publicly criticizing officials.
“You guys know I never blame the refs for our game, but that was a poorly officiated game,” Robinson told the Oregonian following a 74-73 defeat against cross-state rival on Sunday. “When is Jared Cunningham going to get treated like one of the best guys in the conference? I’m just waiting for that. I’m probably getting myself in trouble here, but Jared does not get treated like one of the best players. People are allowed to bait him constantly and to bump him constantly.”
Robinson’s post-game rant had been building for weeks. He’s stumped for Cunningham, the conference’s leading scorer, and believes the high-flying guard gets manhandled by opponents.
Not exactly sure what significant penalties comes with the reprimand. Robinson is expected to coach Thursday when OSU hosts Utah.
“The Pac-12 has specific rules that prohibit our coaches from making public comments about officiating, and this prohibition specifically includes comments that create doubts about the credibility of the Conference’s officiating program,” Commissioner Larry Scott said in a news release from the conference. “The Conference expects each Pac-12 coach to adhere to our standards of conduct and to conduct himself or herself in a manner which will reflect credit on the institution and the Conference.”
