Does Pac-12 title = NCAA at-large berth?

Here’s the Pac-12 release on the conference tournament pairings.
Had a chance to talk to coach Lorenzo Romar and he was excited about winning the outright Pac-12 regular season title.
Here’s the transcript from most of the interview.
(How does it feel?) “It feels great. It kind of offsets what happened yesterday a little bit.”
(Saturday you and team were down about the idea of being co-champions. Your record didn’t change in the past 24 hours, but are better able to appreciate what you guys accomplished this season?) “No question. First of all we’ve been on the other side of this. We didn’t win our last game so someone else won it. We’ve been on the other end. ”
(Do you feel as if you backed into a title?) “I don’t feel that way at all. We were picked fourth (in the preseason media poll) and four guys from last year were gone. We lose Scott (Suggs) who may have been a starter so you could say we lost five key pieces from the previous year and still our guys found ways to win 14 games. So I don’t see it as backing in at all. I see it as we got better and we improved as the year went on.”
(Where were you during the Cal-Stanford game?) “Just sitting at home with my wife.”
(Were you anxious during the last couple of minutes?) “I was sitting still on the couch, but I was getting sweaty palms.”
(Going into the tournament as the No. 1 seed, what’s the mindset?) “We want to go in there and be the best we can be and go as far as we can go. We have some guys that have experience in this tournament. We were fortunate to do well the last two years.”
(Do you have a preference between Oregon State and Washington State for the quarterfinals?) “I always feel in the tournament, once you get in there whatever hand you’re dealt with you go with. We do have the No. 1 seed, but that’s not always an indicator that the team you play against is going to be a mismatch. Some teams – I’ve talked about this before – you just don’t match up well against. It’s just a bad matchup. Either team we have to play, we got to be at our best to get it done.”
(Do you feel Washington needs to win the Pac-12 tournament to advance to the NCAA tournament?) “It’s still interesting to me that people talk about top 50 RPI wins and out-of-conference wins. You win the Pac-12 outright that still seems hard to imagine that not being good enough. But we’re just going to go as far as we go and let the chips fall as they may. We’ve been pretty consistent that way.”
