South Dakota State punches ticket to Big Dance

It’s very conceivable the five non-conference teams that beat Washington will play in the NCAA tournament.
South Dakota State, which beat the Huskies 92-73 on Dec. 18 at Edmundson Pavilion, won the Summit League tournament Tuesday night and earned an automatic berth to the Big Dance. The Jack Rabbits beat the Leathernecks 52-50 to earn their first ever tourney appearance.
Washington’s other non-conferences losses were against Saint Louis, Nevada, Marquette and Duke.
Saint Louis is one of the favorites to win the Atlantic 10 Tournament that begins this week.
Nevada is the top seed in the Western Athletic Conference that also begins this week in Las Vegas.
Regardless of how they perform in the respective tournaments, No. 6-ranked Duke and No. 9 Marquette will make the tourney.
