Washington faces Minnesota in NIT semis

Minnesota had the most difficult route to New York and the NIT Final Four.
The sixth-seed Golden Gophers went on the road and won three games away from home, including tonight’s 78-72 victory at No. 4 Middle Tennessee. It was just the second home loss for the Blue Raiders.
Minnesota (22-14), which finished tied for ninth in the Big Ten, will face Washington (24-10) at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday.
In the quarterfinals, Rodney Williams scored 24 points and Andre Hollins had 24 points, six rebounds and four assists. Elliott Eliason added 12 points and seven rebounds.
Here’s some notes from the game.
Gophers coach Tubby Smith put to rest rumors that he’s a candidate for the Tulsa job.
