Former USF standout could fill UW void

Needing a big man to add depth to a thin front line, Washington may find help in an old opponent.
Perris Blackwell, a 6-foot-9, 240-pound forward who played the past three years at San Francisco, has left the program and is believed to be considering Washington and California as possible destinations, according to sources familiar with his situation.
Blackwell earned All-West Coast Conference honorable mention honors last season after averaging 12.7 points and 6.1 rebounds.
He is one of six players who have left the Dons following a 20-14 season.
Blackwell played three seasons at USF and has one year of eligibility remaining. Normally he would have to sit out next season and redshirt. However, it’s unclear if Blackwell is able to graduate this summer and enroll as a graduate, which would allow him to play immediately.
On Dec. 18, 2010, Blackwell finished with 17 points and seven rebounds in 31 minutes as a sophomore starter in an 80-52 Washington win at Edmundson Pavilion.
The previous season, he tallied two points and four rebounds in 13 minutes as a freshman reserve during an 86-71 Husky victory.
Here’s a clip of Blackwell (below) from a Jan. 12, 2012 game against Portland when he had 10 points and nine rebounds. Two weeks later, he claimed WCC Player of the Week honors following a career-high 26-point outing against San Diego and 19 versus Santa Clara.
