Jordan Tebbutt visits WSU, considering UW

It appears many uncommitted recruits are waiting until April 29 – the deadline for underclassmen to declare for the NBA draft – before making their decisions.
The NCAA deadline for underclassmen to enter the draft was April 10 and for the most part college coaches got exactly what they wanted when they decided to move up the date. In 2009 it was in June and the past two years it was May 8, which allowed draft hopefuls to workout for prospective teams and receive first-hand information about their draft status.
The new deadline doesn’t allow players time to ‘test’ the draft waters, however, 36 underclassmen have declared for the draft. It remains to be seen how things will play out for the draft hopefuls, but college coaches have better understanding about their rosters with less than four weeks remaining in the spring signing period.
Jordan Tebbutt, a consensus three-star prospect, apparently is bidding his time and plans to make a decision early next month, his father told the Oregonian. Tebutt, a two-time Class 3A player of the year, has taken official visits to Washington State and Boston College. He’s also considering Washington and Oregon State.
— Ran across this 38-second clip (below) of UCLA coach Ben Howland responding joyfully after touted recruit Shabazz Muhammad picked the Bruins over Kentucky and Duke. UCLA is using Muhammad and top signees Kyle Anderson and Jordan Adams to lead a ticket sales advertising campaign.
— Anderson will have an MRI on his injured thumb. If he undergoes surgery, the 6-8 pointnt-forward may miss the next three months.
— Renovations at Pauley Pavilion are nearing completion and the arena is set to open on time in mid-October. Here’s an in-depth look at the building.
— Arizona State star Trent Lockett, who is leaving the Sun Devils, has reportedly narrowed his choices to Gonzaga, Marquette and Iowa State.
— Valparaiso junior Richie Edwards is transferring to ASU and will have to sit out next season. He averaged 9.2 points and 3.1 rebounds last season. Edwards will have one year of eligibility with the Sun Devils.
— The Sacramento Kings may rebuild the team around former UW star Isaiah Thomas and Seattle-area standout Terrence Williams.
— Not exactly Pac-12 related, but Gonzaga coach Mark Few will serve as an assistant for the 2012 USA Basketball Men’s U18 National Team.
— We’ve been tracking this story and Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan eased restrictions Jarrod Uthoff and will allow him to transfer to a non-Big Ten school. Originally Wisconsin would not allow him to transfer to 25 schools.
