NSCC Summer League recap and links

Thought I’d post a few words about tonight’s North Seattle Community College Summer League games.
Pretty much standard fare today. Redshirt freshman guard Andrew Andrews and sophomore forward Shawn Kemp Jr. paired together in the first game, but were unable to pull out the win. Andrews got to the rim early in the game and he knocked down a three-pointer or two. He also connected with Kemp on passes that resulted in two-hand dunks.
Both finished with 12 points, but they fell in overtime 74-71.
Washington senior guard Abdul Gaddy arrived a little late and led a team against Seattle University standout Sterling Carter. Both had their moments to shine. Gaddy did what what Gaddy does. He used guile and changed speeds to get up a few layups and short jumpers. He also drained a couple of treys. Meanwhile, Carter was explosive on dribble drives and thrilled the crowd with a rim-rattling dunk.
Gaddy had 19 points, but Carter scored 23 and pulled out a 75-72 win.
In the third game, former Washington star Isaiah Thomas made his summer debut and entertained the fans with a few dazzling dribble drive layups and long three-pointers in the first half. He finished with 27 points.
I made my exit at the break and saw sophomore guard Hikeem Stewart walking into the gym for the nightcap. He scored six points.
MONDAY NIGHT LINKS:
— Looking for former UW standout Justin Holiday? You can find him in Orlando playing with the Philadelphia Sixers’ summer league team. If you have NBA TV, you can also watch the games. Holiday played tonight and here’s a video clip of him getting to the rim for a basket. Several former Huskies are scheduled to play this summer including Terrence Ross (Toronto) and Tony Wroten Jr. (Memphis).
— California coach Mike Montgomery signed a two-year contract extension.
Jorge Gutierrez, the Pac-12 MVP last season, will play with the Denver Nuggets’ summer league team.
Peter Sauer, captain of Stanford’s 1998 Final Four basketball team, died Sunday during a pickup basketball game.
