Husky Men's Basketball

The latest news and analysis on Husky men's hoops.

Imagine this guy playing for the Huskies

Aaron Gordon returned to the basketball court Thursday after a long injury layoff and according to reports he impressed those in attendance at the EBYL Finals at the NIKE Peach Jam, including a trio of Pac-12 coaches hot on the trails of the phenom recruit who draws comparisons to Blake Griffin and Scottie Pippen.
Adam Zagoria writes UW coach Lorenzo Romar was in South Carolina along with Arizona’s Sean Miller and Oregon’s Dana Altman watching Gordon, who many consider a top five 2013 recruit.
It’s interesting to note Derrick Artis, Gordon’s AAU coach, is the uncle of Dominic Artis, who is an incoming freshman point guard at Oregon. Gordon said his top schools are Washington, Arizona, Oregon, Kansas, Kentucky, New Mexico and Stanford.
Apparently UW and Arizona are still Gordon’s favorites and he told Scout.com’s Michael Luke: “The main schools that stand out are Washington, Arizona, Oregon, Kentucky and a couple other schools. I like Washington because of Coach Romar and the style of play they run. I like the Seattle area. The facilities are good and Coach Romar plays the type of game I want to play in. I like Arizona for many of the same reasons I like Washington. Coach Miller is a very good coach and also plays an up-tempo style. Arizona has better facilities, though.”
Here’s a look at Gordon working out with older brother Drew during his recovery from a broken bone in his foot.
Gordon’s Oakland Soldiers teammate Jabari Bird is also reportedly drawing major interest from Washington. He’s also having an impressive outing at Peach Jame.
The Huskies are also believed to be recruiting 2014 recruit Stanley AAU Johnson who is on the same squad as Gordon and Bird.
FRIDAY MORNING LINKS:
— Romar talked with 710 ESPN and touched on a variety of topics including the UW newcomers, the NBA draft, Brandon Roy and the potential return of the Sonics.
— Washington State will play Buffalo at the 2012 Cougar Hardwood Classic on Dec. 21 at KeyArena.
— The NBA Summer League in Las Vegas wraps up this weekend. Here’s a TV schedule featuring Memphis and former UW star Tony Wroten Jr.
