Monday links: Romar, Jackson share mentor

Thought I’d pass along some quick links to start your work week. Let’s begin with a couple of stories on Washington’s new assistant Brad Jackson.
MONDAY MORNING LINKS:
Steve Kelley writes Jackson and coach Lorenzo Romar each share a rich relationship with UW legendary coach Marv Harshman.
Gregg Bell at GoHuskies.com chronicles how Jackson, who played at Washington State, nearly became a Husky 41 years ago when Harshman left WSU and took the UW job.
— Husky target Jabari Bird spoke with KJR-AM last Saturday. You can listen to the interview (below). Bird calls UW sophomore Desmond Simmons “a big brother.”
— Keep an eye on Colorado freshman Josh Scott. The 6-9 forward finished with a game-high 24 points to cap the Buffaloes exhibition European tour with an 88-86 defeat. Without four of the returning starters, Scott took over. He led the Buffs in scoring in three of the five games.
— Scott was considered a consensus four-star recruit and believed to be the prize of a four-man class rated among the top 25 in the nation. In its second exhibition game, Scott finished with a team-high tying 13 points and 10 rebounds as CU lost a rematch 91-74 loss against the AMW France Elite ”Pro A” All-Stars. Junior forward Andre Roberson had 13 points, nine rebounds and four steals and freshman Xavier Johnson added 12 points.
Adria Gasol, whose older brothers Pau and Marc star in the NBA, will walk-on at UCLA.
