Brad Jackson was a popular guy at Tuesday’s press conferences because the first-year assistant will be sitting on the Washington sideline when the Huskies face his former team Western Washington 7 p.m. tonight at Alaska Airlines Arena.
Here’s our preview of tonight’s game.
Scott Johnson at the Everett Herald spoke with WWU senior guard John Allen who said “it’s definitely going to be a little weird,” playing against Jackson.
And here’s the advance in the News Tribune and GoHuskies.com.
WEDNESDAY MORNING LINKS:
— It’s been discussed in the comments section of a previous post, but in case you missed it CBSSports.com ranked the top 50 point guards in the nation. Three Pac-12 players made the list including UCLA freshman Kyle Anderson (6), Arizona senior Mark Lyons (11) and Stanford sophomore Chasson Randle (29).
— On Tuesday CBSSports.com ranked the top 50 big men and it included five players from the Pac-12. Making the list were Colorado junior Andre Roberson, Washington State senior Brock Motum (29), UCLA junior Josh Smith (34), Arizona freshman Brandon Ashley (40) and Arizona freshman Grant Jerrett (50).
— Colorado brought in a top 20 recruiting class and the best of the bunch may be 6-10 forward Josh Scott.
— Freshman guard Jahii Carson starred in Arizona State’s intrasquad srimmage.
— In case you missed it, here’s video of freshman Gabe York winning the dunk contest at Arizona’s Red-Blue game.
Doug Haller at the Arizona Republic put Arizona at No. 7 in his preseason top 25 list. He has UCLA at 11.
Jon Wilner at the Mercury News also unveiled his top 25 list and it does not include UCLA, which is still without top freshmen Shabazz Muhammad and Anderson.
— Relatively low expectations for Seattle University, which makes his Western Athletic Conference debut this season. The Redhawks were picked to finish eighth in the 10-team conference by the coaches and the media. No Seattle U player was chosen to the preseason all-conference teams.
