Pac-12 Player of the Week: Ahmad Starks

It’s no surprise Oregon State junior Ahmad Starks captured the season’s first Pac-12 Player of the Week honors after dropping a career-high 33 points on New Mexico State in Sunday’s 71-62 win.
He sank 11 of 21 field goals and was 9 of 12 on free throws. Starks also added five rebounds, four steals and four assists.
The 5-9, 165-pound guard also scored 18 points in the season-opening victory over Niagara. He went 6-14 on field goals and collected six rebounds on the night.
Washington senior center Aziz N’Diaye was nominated following a 16-rebound, 10-point and 3-block performance against Loyola Maryland.
Other nominated include: Arizona’s Mark Lyons; Arizona State’s Jordan Bachynski; Californina’s Allen Crabbe; Colorado’s Josh Scott; Oregon’s Tony Woods; Stanford’s Dwight Powell; UCLA’s Jordan Adams, Utah’s Jordan Loveridge and Washington State’s Brock Motum.
MONDAY AFTERNOON LINKS:
— Turns out Loyola Maryland was a tougher opponent than many UW critics believed and the Greyhounds could help the Huskies in March. Washington is in a six-way tie for second place in the first RPI ranking released last night.
— No serious shakeup in the polls as it pertains to the Pac-12. Arizona is 12 and UCLA 13 in the AP rankings while the Wildcats are 12 and the Bruins 14 in the coaches rankings.
