UW tries to snap six-game road losing streak to non-conference foes

Washington has a chance Saturday to do something it couldn’t accomplish last season – win a game on the road against a non-conference opponent.
The Huskies were 0-5 in those games including losses at Saint Louis, at Nevada and against Marquette, Duke and Minnesota at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
Coach Lorenzo Romar admitted the Huskies have had difficulty winning on the road against non-conference foes.
“I think some years we weren’t as experienced,” he said. “I think our shot selection in year’s past has improved as we’ve gone on. In the non-conference games are shot selection isn’t where it needs to be. When you hit the road that bites you if you have poor shot selection. At times I think that’s been the case offensively.
“We’ve always said you’re going to win or lose on the defensive end, but when you’re shooting too quickly and your shot selection is poor you allow the other team to get into a rhythm where now it’s difficult to stop them. I think that’s had something to do with it in the past.”
Washington has a six game road losing streak against non-conference foes dating back to an 86-83 defeat to North Carolina in the 2011 NCAA Tournament.
Including neutral-site games, the Huskies are 11-23 under Romar in non-conference regular-season road games. They have an 8-7 record during the postseason and 19-30 overall,
Here’s the breakdown by season.
