Guess the UW Score contest – Cal State Fullerton

Nice job in the Guess the UW Score contest. Plenty of folks picked Washington to beat Saint Louis and many were close to predicting the final score: 66-61.

However, no one was closer than Jon May who guessed 66-59 and dawgpound99 who picked UW to win 64-61.

Congratulations guys.

OK let’s move on.

TODAY’S SCHEDULE:
California (6-0) at Wisconsin (4-3), 1 p.m. …………………. Big Ten Network
Denver (1-4) at Stanford (5-2), 2 p.m. ……………………….. P12N
Cal State Fullerton (3-3) at Washington (3-3), 4 p.m. ….. P12N

AND THE UW-CSF WINNER IS …

The Huskies 78-73.

Washington is averaging just 69.7 points, which is the lowest since coach Lorenzo Romar took over in 2002.

Not sure if the Huskies have enough firepower to score more than 80 points if senior guard Scott Suggs isn’t available.

He’s missed the past two games due to plantar fasciitis.

However, Cal State Fullerton plays at an up-tempo pace and UW should be able get plenty of open looks.

Washington has a tremendous size advantage with 7-foot center Aziz N’Diaye. It will be interesting to see how he impacts the game. Fullerton has no one to matchup with him, but will rely on 6-6 forward Marquis Horne. N’Diaye is averaging 11.3 points, but he’s not the type of low-post threat that requires a double team. But he should be able to dominate the Titans on the glass and is averaging 10.5 rebounds.

The other interesting matchup features C.J. Wilcox and D.J. Seeley. They’re the best two players in the game and they’ll spend a lot of time defending each other.

Washington will have to figure what it’s going to do with fifth-year senior forward Sammy Yeager, a transfer from TCU who is averaging 15 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 30.7 minutes. He’s got experience and he knows how to score, which could be a problem for redshirt freshman Jernard Jarreau. But Yeager is 6-4 and 190 pounds while Jarreau is 6-10 and 220.

If the Huskies can slow down either Seeley, Yeager or Kwame Vaughn and receive solid performers from their main guns Wilcox, Abdul Gaddy and N’Diaye, then UW should win consecutive games for the first time this season.
