WSU-Zags highlight tonight’s Pac-12 sked

There was a time not so long ago when the state’s top three men’s basketball teams played each other every year. Washington and Washington State met twice year in conference games and both teams had Gonzaga on its non-conference schedule.

The Huskies and Bulldogs discontinued their series after the 2006-07 season with Gonzaga winning eight of the last 10 games, including a seven-game win streak (1998-2004).

Before the season I asked Washington coach Lorenzo Romar if there was any chance of renewing the series and he said there’s no imminent plans or talks.

Meanwhile the Cougars and Zags continue their battle for hoops supremacy in eastern Washington tonight. Gonzaga is 10-3 in the past 13 meetings and odds of WSU (5-3) pulling off an upset win tonight are long against the Bulldogs (8-0), which are ranked 10th.

Still an upset victory would go a long ways for the Cougars and the Pac-12, which is 2-8 against ranked opponents this season.

Here’s a look at what appears to be a very entertaining Pac-12 schedule tonight.

Hartford (4-3) at Arizona State (6-1), 5:30 p.m. ………………. P12N
Boise State (6-1) at Utah (5-2), 5:30 p.m. ……………………… P12N
USC (3-4) at No. 18 New Mexico, 7 p.m. ………………………. CBS Sports Network
Colorado State (6-0) at Colorado (6-1), 7:30 p.m. …………… P12N
No. 10 Gonzaga (8-0) at Washington State (5-3), 8 p.m. …. ESPNU
