Guess the UW Score — Nevada

Sad to report that for the first time in the history of the Guess the UW Score contest, we don’t have a winner. Sorry guys, it’s our fault.

You may have noticed we’ve made changes to the blog. Essentially we moved to another blogging format. During the transition, comments from some previous posts were deleted. We’re trying to restore them, but for now they’re gone.

Again, my apologies.

Alright let’s move on. Plenty of games in the Pac-12, including a couple that are already in the books.

TODAY’S SCHEDULE:

No. 10 Kansas (7-1) 90-54 over Colorado (7-2).

Arizona State (8-1) 87-76 over Cal State Northridge (7-3).

Grambling State (0-5) at Oregon State (4-2), 1 p.m. …….. P12N

UCLA (5-3) vs. Texas (5-3), 2 p.m. ………………………….. ESPN

Idaho State (1-5) at Oregon (7-1), 3 p.m. ………………….. P12N

No. 8 Arizona (6-0) at Clemson (5-2), 5 p.m. ………………. ESPN2

Nevada (4-4) at Washington (4-3), 5 p.m. ………………… P12N

Utah (6-2) at BYU (5-3), 6 p.m. ……………………………….. P12N

No. 14 Minnesota (9-1) at USC (3-5), 7:30 p.m. ………… P12N

AND THE UW-NEVADA WINNER IS …

The rubber match goes to the Huskies, but just barely 75-70.

In 2010, Washington pummeled Nevada 90-60 at Edmundson Pavilion in a game that was decided at halftime.

Last year UW lost 76-73 in overtime last year at Lawlor Events Center.

Both teams are a little weaker this season. Nevada lost two front court starters, but it returns a talented back court that features junior point guard Deonte Burton and senior shooting guard Malik Story. Both are capable of taking over a game. Burton’s 31-point personal best came against the Huskies last year while Story has tallied 34.

No one else has led the Wolf Pack in scoring and no other Nevada player is averaging more than seven points.

C.J. Wilcox and Abdul Gaddy are the only players to lead Washington in scoring, but the Huskies have better offensive balance. Four players average at least 10 points.

Washington is averaging just 65 points in the past three games without senior guard Scott Suggs (plantar fasciitis). If he returns, the Huskies should be able to generate more points. Sophomore forward Shawn Kemp Jr. is also planning to make his season debut today and it will be interesting to see if he can help UW rebound. He’s a big body at 6-9 and 255 pounds, but he averaged just 0.8 rebounds and 6.5 minutes in 22 games last season.
