Transcript of live chat with Seattle University coach Cameron Dollar
Seattle University coach Cameron Dollar takes his fourth swing at Washington on Thursday when the Redhawks host the Huskies at 7 p.m. at KeyArena.
Dollar, a former UW assistant, is no stranger to coach Lorenzo Romar. Their relationship began in 1993 when Dollar played for the Bruins and Romar was an assistant. They won a national championship with UCLA in 1995 posting a 31-2 record including an 89-78 win over Arkansas in the title game.
At age 22, Dollar became the country’s youngest coach when he was hired at Vanguard University. After a season and a year as an assistant at Georgia, Dollar joined Romar’s staff at Saint Louis. They were together for 10 years, including three at Washington.
Dollar left in 2009. In his fourth season with the Redhawks, he has a 43-52 record. SU is 3-3 this season. Washington is 23-4 against Seattle U. in a rivalry that began in 1953. The series was discontinued in 1980 and started again in 2009. The Huskies are 4-0 since then and 3-0 against Dollar.
