AND THE UW-NIU WINNER IS …
The Washington Huskies 81-63.
Seattle University beat Northern Illinois by 27 points (75-48) on Wednesday and the Redhawks lost by 13 (87-74) to UW last week, so you wouldn’t think Washington would have any problems picking up its fourth straight win today.
NIU has just one road win over the past two seasons. It averages just 56.7 points and have topped 60 points in four games.
NIU has decent at every position except the point guard spot where 5-10, 155-pound freshman Travon Baker directs the offense. He’s turnover prone and has 31. He also struggles as a playmaker and has 16 assists.
Washington will need to pay close attention to 6-7 forward Abdel Nader, who averages 14 points and is capable of scoring 20 or more. UW has several bodies to throw at him to slow him down starting with C.J. Wilcox. However, Scott Suggs and Desmond Simmons could see minutes against Nader.
Washington is coming off of its best defensive performance of the season, a 75-62 win over Cal Poly. A similar effort should resort in another rout.
