Thursday links: Huskies licking their wounds
Let’s start the day with a few links.
Here’s the video highlights (above) from Pac-12 Networks following Washington’s 74-66 defeat last night at Oregon State.
And here’s the game stories in the Gazettle-Times, Oregonian, Associated Press and GoHuskies.com.
AP photographer Greg Wahl-Stephens compiled a nice collection of pics.
AROUND THE PAC-12:
— Up next for Washington (12-7, 4-2) is trip back to the Willamette Valley to face No. 16 Oregon. The Ducks (17-2, 6-0) overcame a sloppy first half and pulled away from Washington State late in the second half for a 68-61 win. E.J. Singler scored 14 of his 19 points after halftime.
—The past two years, Arizona saved the white-out game for Washington. But with the Huskies struggling this season, the UA fans and players will break out the white t-shirts and uniforms for UCLA and ESPN2.
— Big game tonight in Tucson, Ariz. between the Pac-12 preseason title favorites. No. 6 Arizona takes on UCLA.
— The Bruins need a big guy to get physical and do the dirty work in the middle. That person could be freshman center Tony Parker.
— California backup guard Brandon Smith hopes to return Thursday from a concussion. The Golden Bears are 10-7, 2-3.
— Remember Brandon Taylor? How could UW fans forget so quickly? The Utah freshman guard was perhaps the biggest reason why the Utes stunned the Huskies in last Saturday’s 74-65 defeat. Well, he’s looking to build on that 19 points, six assists and two steal performance.
— Utah’s offense appears to be heating up.
— Nice story on Vashon Island standout John Gage, who is developing into a three-point specialist for Stanford (11-7, 2-3).
— The Cardinal was the only team that swept Colorado last season and the Buffaloes are looking for a little payback.
— Arizona State (14-4, 3-2) is still waiting to receive big dividends from transfer Evan Gordon.
