Video: Lorenzo Romar

Here’s video (above) of coach Lorenzo Romar after Washington’s 74-66 defeat at Oregon State.

(Opening statement) “We came out very lethargic offensively tonight. It was like we were running in quicksand, mud. We weren’t moving our feet offensively. Same goes on the other end. We did a great job of coming back and getting back into the game. Then a couple of turnovers were costly and missed a couple of assignments. They did a good job of running their offense. We’ve played against their offense before and there’s some things that they were able to get tonight that we hadn’t given up in a few years. They were able to get those tonight. That shows a lack of concentration at times. So it’s very disappointing.”

(On the slow start) “I don’t know. It shouldn’t have happened. Shouldn’t have happened.”

(On rallying late in the first half) “Something called energy. We started playing with more energy. I think Andrew (Andrews) was in there. He was pushing the ball. We were just more active. Play with more energy. We don’t play with energy, we’re not very good. We play with energy, we can compete.”

(On cutting 20-point deficit to one and not taking a lead) “Costly turnovers. Couple turnovers down the stretch. Couple of missed assignments. Once we cut it to one, then we weren’t able to get stops against them for us to get over the hump.”

(On veterans missing assignment) “We have to continue to show film. Continue to talk about it. Just have to collectively step up.”

(On where is the team now) “Well this is a third of the league right now and we’re 4-2 and we’re about to play the team that’s playing the best in the league right now. We’re getting ready to find out where we’re at. We’ll go back home, we’ll practice tomorrow. Saturday we’ll come back and hopefully have a better attitude and approach.”
