Oregon post-game quotes

Here’s post-game quotes from Oregon coach Dana Altman and players following their 81-76 win over Washington.

DANA ALTMAN

(On the effort of the team) “We played really hard and the guys were really battling but the amount of turnovers we had tonight really took away from our performance. So minus the turnovers I think we played hard but it is definitely tough looking at those 23 turnovers.”

(On the crowd) “I thought the crowd was really great tonight. The students were here and ready to support the team. I think that students make college basketball what it is and we are lucky to have such great students.”

(On upcoming games) “We are 7-0 now but I still think we have a lot of work to do. All it is going to take to change everything is one bad weekend. We have some tough games coming up so we need to fight hard.”

(On the attitude of the team) “They are a confident bunch and that is one of the reasons we had 23 turnovers. They were very optimistic tonight with their ability to make shots. That being said the team has a strong confidence and that is something that I did not give them. Confidence comes from working hard and seeing the benefits. If you work hard you have the confidence and if you don’t then you won’t. E.J. [Singler] and Johnathan [Loyd] work hard every day in practice and that is why they have that confidence.”

ARSALAN KAZEMI

(On his contribution tonight) “When you score one time, you get back into the game. When you get a few rebounds it does the same thing. I think that, and the crowd got me going.”

E.J. SINGLER

(On shooting well against Washington’s defense) “We ran our offense well and we got some good shots and we knocked them down. Arsalan played good. Carlos (Emory) got out ahead and ran the floor. Johnny made plays from up top. We played well as a team tonight.”

(On missing Dominic Artis)  “Johnny gave us a lot of energy, especially in the first four minutes which we haven’t been playing very well. He’s been here before and he’s got a lot of experience. I have a lot of faith in him. He had a good game tonight”

(On the atmosphere in Matthew Knight Arena)  “This has been the best crowd since I’ve been here. It really got us going. I’m very happy with the turn out today.”
