Washington will get a look at the reigning Pac-12 player of the week on Saturday when Carrick Felix visits Edmundson Pavilion.
The Arizona State senior forward won the award today for the third time this season. It’s the first time that’s happened since 2010-11 season when UW star Isaiah Thomas and Arizona standout Derrick Williams did it. Williams later claimed the Player of the Year award in the conference.
Felix, one of the leading POY candidates this season, had his sixth and seventh double-double games last week that helped ASU in a pair of home wins.
In a 78-60 win over UCLA, he scored a team-high 23 points and collected 11 rebounds and three steals. He shot 8-of-12 (.667) from the field and 6-of-8 (.750) from the free throw line.
Against USC, Felix finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds in ASU’s 98-93 overtime victory. He shot 5-of-10 (.500) from the field and 5-of-8 (.625) from the free throw line.
Felix is averaging 15.1 and 8.2 points. He won POW honors Dec. 3 and Jan. 7. Former Sun Devils star Eddie House won the award four times in a season and five in his career, which is the most in school history.
Others nominated this week include: Arizona’s Nick Johnson, California’s Allen Crabbe, Colorado’s André Roberson, Oregon’s E.J. Singler, Stanford’s Chasson Randle, UCLA’s Shabazz Muhammad and Washington State’s Mike Ladd.
