Senior co-captain Abdul Gaddy said Washington (12-8, 4-3) is playing “must-win” games this week against No. 8 Arizona (17-2, 5-2) and Arizona State (16-4, 5-2).
He said a focus in practice has to been to rectify the recent slow starts.
Gaddy attributed the defensive lapses during UW’s three-game losing streak to players not helping each other as much as they did when the team started Pac-12 play 4-0.
“It’s a little rivalry between us,” Gaddy said. “It’s always Washington and Arizona – the last couple of years – its been us two at the top of the Pac-12. We know every time we play them we’re going to get their best shot and we’re going to give our best shot. I know a lot of people get amped for this game and a lot of people tend to show up because it’s a big rivalry.”
