Guess the UW Score — Washington State
Congrats to justosu for winning Saturday’s Guess the UW Score contest. He predicted UCLA would beat the Huskies 63-58 and the Bruins won 61-54.
In the race for the grand prize, justosu moved into a four-way, second-place tie with ProgressiveDawg, stockboi and bleeding purple and gold. They have two wins, which is a game behind leaders wayupwaydown and husky basketball 2009.
Anyone can still win this thing.
The same is true for the Pac-12 men’s basketball tournament.
Let’s get to today’s game. All times Pacific.
No. 9 Arizona State 89-88 overtime over No. 8 Stanford
No. 7 USC (14-17) vs. No. 10 Utah (13-17), 6 p.m. ……………………………………. P12N
No. 6 Washington (17-14) vs. No. 11 Washington State (13-18), 8:30 p.m. ……… P12N
AND THE UW-WSU WINNER IS …
— The Cougars 68-66.
Washington swept the regular-season meetings by a combined nine points while holding Brock Motum in check. He’s averaging 25.5 points in the past two games and is due for a big performance against the Huskies after scoring 15 and 18 this season.
If the Huskies can contain Motum, they have a great chance to extend their winning streak to six in a row against their in-state rival.
Washington State has struggled in the tight games this season and the pattern held true against UW. These teams know each other so well and it’s unlikely either team can turn the game into a blowout.
The Huskies got 46 points from Scott Suggs and C.J. Wilcox the last time against WSU and will need more production from the role players.
Washington also needs to match WSU’s intensity level. The Cougars are playing with a sense of desperation knowing their next defeat ends the season. Regardless of what happens tonight, the Huskies will likely play another postseason game either in the quarterfinals on Thursday or next week in the National Invitational Tournament.
