Oregon live game thread
IT’S OVER — Oregon wins 80-77.
KAZEMI — This is just about over. Kazemi flushed a dunk. UO 72-65.
OT — Wilcox got the ball poked away on final possession. UW 64-64.
ALL SQUARE — UW 60-60, 3:24.
GETTING GOOD — Oregon is making a little run. UW 58-57, 4:43.
SURGING — UW 52-48, 9:28.
BACK ON TOP — The Huskies are making a point to go inside. N’Diaye has been hot and cold. He whiffed on a layup, airballed a free throw and hit all net on another freebie. Then he sank a difficult layup in traffic to put UW ahead 44-43 with 15:50 left.
SECOND HALF — Same starters for both teams.
HALFTIME OBSERVATIONS — Not sure how much Washington is going to get inside from its big guys, which puts more pressure on Suggs and Wilcox to keep firing. They have to score or else Oregon could run away with this one.
The Ducks do a slightly better job of creating points inside for their big guys. They cut to the basket. They force the action. Woods is 3 of 5 at free throw line. Singler is 4 of 5 from the field. Both have nine points. And Dotson leads all scorers with 13.
Wilcox looks fantastic offensively. He’s had one bad shot while connecting on 4 of 6 for 12 points. Suggs has 10, but hasn’t scored in awhile.
No other UW player has more than four points.
Washington has more turnovers (seven) than assists (six), which is never good. The Huskies also have more rebounds (16-13) than Oregon.
HALFTIME STATS — Click here.
HALFTIME — Oregon 39-34.
FOUL TROUBLE — The starting and backup point guards for both teams each have two fouls. UO 37-34, 1:36.
WINDED? — Wilcox worried about his conditioning, but he looks just fine. He has 10 points. Being very aggressive attacking the basket and going all out defensively while fighting through screens. UW 31-30, 4:46.
DOTSON — For some reason Washington has left Dotson opened on 3-pointers on last 3 possessions. He made two shots. He has 13 points. UW 27-25, 7:14.
SAY WHAT? — Suggs engaging in a little trash talk with E.J. Singler. Suggs has 10 points. UW leads 25-18.
HOT HANDS — Suggs is 2 for 4, Wilcox 2 for 3 and Simmons is 2 for 2 from the field. All three are shooting with confidence. UW 17-14, 11:47.
SUBS — Andrew Andrews and Desmond Simmons are in for Gaddy and Kemp. UW 10-6, 14:54.
SOLID START — Gaddy, Suggs and Wilcox have each scored. That’s good news for Washington. The Huskies also lead 6-3 on rebounding, which is better news. UW 8-6, 15:12.
STARTING LINEUPS — No change for UW: Abdul Gaddy, Scott Suggs, C.J. Wilcox, Shawn Kemp Jr. and Aziz N’Diaye.
Oregon: G Dominic Artis, G Damyean Dotson, F E.J. Singler, F Arsalan Kazemi and C Tony Woods.
LATE START — Utah beat California 79-69 in overtime, which pushed back the start of tonight’s game.
PROGRAMMING ALERT — There is a blogging software update scheduled during tonight’s game, so there is a chance that at some point my game updates might stop. It should only be for five to ten minutes, and will most likely occur in the first half. As soon as the software is back, I’ll be back. In the meantime, you’ll still be able to read the existing updates and comment as usual.
