Husky hoops legends square off today

It’s a big day at Montlake for Washington, which celebrates the men’s basketball program and the 11-year tenure of coach Lorenzo Romar with the school’s first alumni basketball event.

The doors at Alaska Airlines Arena open at noon and the festivities begin at 1 p.m. with a Legends Game that’s expected to include: Christian Welp, Eldridge Recasner, Paul Fortier, Ray Price, Phil Zevenbergen, Jason Hamilton, Donald Watts, Bryant Boston, Dion Brown and Chester Dorsey. Steve Hawes and George Irvine are the coaches.

At halftime former UW stars will compete in a three-point contest. The participants should include: Mark Sanford, Isaiah Thomas, Justin Dentmon, Tre Simmons, Recasner and possibly Ryan Appleby.

The Alumni Game starts at 2:30 p.m. Here’s the rosters.

First team: Brandon Burmeister, Will Conroy, Hans Gasser, Spencer Hawes, Bobby Jones, Mike Jensen, Brandon Roy, Nate Robinson, Jamaal Williams and Simmons. Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon is the coach.

Second team: Jon Brockman, Matthew Bryan-Amaning, Darnell Gant, Justin Holiday, Quincy Pondexter, Terrence Ross, Tony Wroten Jr., Dentmon and Thomas. Hall of Famer Lenny Wilkens is the coach.

At halftime Robinson and Ross are expected to compete in a dunk contest.

Tickets are $15 at the door and kids under 12 get in free.

Today is not all about fun and games. Scout.com is reporting Zylan Cheatham, a 6-foot-7, 200-pound 2014 forward prospect from Phoenix, is expected to visit this weekend.
