Hard to believe that one shot can win a guy the Pac-12 Player of the Week award, but Askia Booker’s buzzer-beating three-pointer to beat then-No.6 Kansas was an amazing shot. Heck, it might be the shot of the college basketball season.
Booker also didn’t have much competition in the conference for the weekly award. His biggest challenge may have been teammate Spencer Dinwiddie, who had a monster performance in the previous game.
Still, no one was going to beat Booker after he sank the game-winning three-pointer that gave Colorado a 75-72 over Kansas. It was his third three-pointer in teh game. He was 5 of 12 from the field for 15 points. He also had three rebounds.
During a 67-62 win at cross-state rival Colorado State, Booker scored 12 points on 4-for-12 shooting. He also had two steals, a rebound and an assists.
In both games, Booker averaged 13.5 points, 2.o rebounds and 1.5 steals. Not overwhelming numbers, but my goodness that shot.
Other Pac-12 players nominated include: Arizona’s Brandon Ashley, Oregon’s Jonathan Loyd, UCLA’s Jordan Adams and Utah’s Delon Wright.
