Video: Lorenzo Romar on UW’s defense, Desmond Simmons and Idaho State

In the video (above), coach Lorenzo Romar said Washington played its best game of the year in last Sunday’s 70-63 defeat at San Diego State because the Huskies did a relatively good job defending.

The Aztecs shot 42.6 percent, which is a significant improvement for a UW team that’s allowing opponents to shoot 50.8 percent from the field. The Huskies rank 335th among 350 schools in opponent’s field goal percentage.

Romar expects Desmond Simmons, who hasn’t played due to arthroscopic knee surgery, will be able to return after Christmas. Simmons is running up and down the court, but he hasn’t done any lateral work yet.

And Romar described Idaho State as a “rugged, tough basketball team.”
