Washington players after 87-81 win

Here’s a few quotes from Washington players after their 87-81 win over Oregon State.

Nigel Williams-Goss & C.J. Wilcox

NIGEL WILLIAMS-GOSS

(On warming up and feeling in the zone during the game) “I watched the film of the Oregon game with coach and I just felt like I wasn’t my normal self out there. I feel like I wasn’t as aggressive out there as I usually am. So I just wanted to be in a more aggressive mindset tonight and it worked out.”

(On how tight guarding on CJ opened up the floor) “Yeah when coach and I were watching the film yesterday, we called it the ‘C.J. effect’. When he comes off screens, two guys jump at him and it open up everyone on the floor, not just me. When you play with such a prolific scorer like C.J., it’s much easier.”

C.J. WILCOX

(On tight defense from OSU) “Yeah, he [Eric Moreland, OSU] was just always there. Even when’s he’s not, because of his length, he can cover a lot of ground, and it’s hard to get good looks at the basket. He was just around me wherever I went, and it was tough to get good looks.”

(On staying patient through first half) “It’s always good to have people step up and it makes the game a lot more fun if you’re not struggling, and you know you don’t have to be the guy to step up. When somebody steps up, it is easier to be patient.”

(On preparing for today’s defense from OSU) “Just executing the scout… We didn’t have a lot of time to prepare for them. But we did a good job yesterday getting ready to see what they were going to do. Nelson was their main guy we had to watch out for, and he got his looks but we contained the others.”
