Morning links: UW heads to Pullman

Washington looks to close out the first half of the Pac-12 season on a high note with a win Saturday against cross-state rival Washington State at Beasley Coliseum.

SATURDAY MORNING LINKS:

Very little has gone right for Washington State during the Pac-12 season, but the Cougars would like nothing more than to beat their Northwest nemesis.

— Arizona is in the middle of a long five-day Bay Area road trip that concludes Saturday with a game at California.

— After an 89-78 overtime defeat to Arizona State, Cal is reeling and riding a three-game losing streak heading into a matchup with the No. 1-ranked Wildcats. Senior point guard Justin Cobbs told the San Francisco Chronicle: “I’m sure everybody is excited to have the No. 1 team in the country and in the conference at home. We’re coming off three straight losses. With them being so highly ranked, it makes it even more┬áspecial.”

Richard Solomon had been an immature player with loads of potential and inconsistent performances. Now the Golden Bears senior forward a little more grounded, a lot more mature and leading all Division I players in rebounding average.

— Once considered a contender for the Pac-12 regular-season title, Colorado is now simply trying to hang on to its standing as an NCAA Tournament team.

— The Colorado-Utah rivalry is in its infancy stage, but it has the makings of a good ‘ole fashioned basketball feud.

More rebounds equals more wins for Arizona State.

Oregon has dug itself a very deep hole to climb out if the Ducks are going to reach the NCAA tournament.
