Here’s video of the postgame interview with coach Lorenzo Romar after Washington’s 64-60 win over Stanford.
And here’s a few quotes.
(Opening statement): “That was a great basketball game, with the exception of our turnovers. Both teams I thought fought hard and really competed. It was one of those games where I couldn’t have been more proud of our guys. Some guys really stepped up for us. Mike Anderson played the best basketball he has in a while tonight. Desmond didn’t score a lot of points but he was relentless. Those are the plays we expect Desmond to make at the end of that game, taking that charge. Those are the things he does that help you win ball games. I though we preserved and came up with the win against a very good Stanford team who had been playing exceptional basketball. We won on the boards which was a good thing.”
(In the last huddle, what was the plan?) “We just did not want to give up the three. We thought it would go to Powell, we just didn’t want to give up the three.”
(How can you make any sense of the team you saw in Boulder compared to tonight?) “My answer is home versus road. It’s my only answer. It’s unfortunate that we haven’t been better on the road, we still have two on the road but I think it’s pretty clear we’re just a different team this year when we’re at home.”
