Video: Lorenzo Romar after UW’s 82-75 win over USC

Here’s video of the postgame interview with coach Lorenzo Romar following Washington’s 82-75 win over USC.

And here’s a few quotes from Romar.

Opening Comments: “It’s good to get one on Senior Day. A couple of times we haven’t been able to, so it’s good to do that. … Perris (Blackwell) has only been here on the floor playing in terms of eligibility for a year, definitely going to miss him. I wish we had him longer. But C.J. Wilcox, special, special player. Special young man. It’s going to be tough not seeing him running up and down, coming off screens, doing his thing here.

“But fortunate today; I thought we came out in the second half and really turned it up defensively for a while. We gave up too much penetration down the stretch, had a couple of turnovers. But I think the way we came out the second half on the defensive end was the difference in the game.”

(On Wilcox being stoic) “That’s C.J. He takes it all in, comes and goes, moves on about his business. He came out with a really aggressive mindset. You could just see that right away. You look at the fact that he had three steals and eight rebounds…it just shows, he was aggressive. He was determined today.”

(On Wilcox being aggressive offensively) “He did it today; this is Senior Day. He know he doesn’t have many games left to play at the college level. Maybe this is one, because there’s times where he’s really aggressive. We’re going to need him to be that way as we go on to play on Wednesday.”
