Washington starts summer league basketball

Several Washington Huskies will compete in the Northwest Collegiate Summer League, which begins Monday. The eight-week tournament, which is held at North Seattle Community College, ends Aug. 11. Admission is free.

The NCAA-sanctioned tournament consists of college and high school players from northwest schools.

“We’re proud our league is in its fourth year and still providing college and high school players in the area an organized team setting in which they can improve their skills and stay in shape,” NWCSL co-director Marvena Kemp said in a release. “It’s also a way for our community to see their college and high school players showcase their skills in a competitive environment.”

Every Washington player is scheduled to participate except Jernard Jarreau and Robert Upshaw. Jarreau is recovering from a knee injury while it’s uncertain if Upshaw will return next season.
