Rainier Beach High senior guard Dejounte Murray, who verbally committed to Washington, plays basketball in a manner that reminds many of former Beach standout Jamal Crawford.

Both are skinny 6-5 shooting guards, but the parallels extend beyond their frame, position and high school.

Murray may not have superior ball-handling ability like Crawford, who garnered the nickname J-Crossover because of his ankle-breaking dribbling skills. However there’s several plays in the latest highlight video by Ballislife (above) when Murray blows past defenders with an array of cross-overs, hesitation moves and slick handles.

He’s also an excellent long-distance shot-maker much like Crawford. Plus, Murray’s athleticism (i.e. high-flying dunks, windmill jams) perhaps exceeds Crawford, who turned 34 this year.

MONDAY MORNING LINKS:

— Washington’s Dawg Pack is rated the 10th best student section.

— Nice scouting report on Arizona, which says the Wildcats not only collect the some of the best recruiting talent in the west. They also do a good job at making players better.

— Here’s a breakdown of Arizona’s roster.

T.J. McConnell ran the mile in team-best 5:17 for Arizona. The Wildcats are loaded with NBA talent, but got a feeling the unheralded senior point guard will emerge as their leader and go-to player in clutch situations.

— It’s a little surprising, but Draft Express ranks UCLA senior guard Norman Powell the third best pro prospect in the Pac-12.

— In the video, Sporting News’ Mike Decourcey talks about the top incoming freshman and in the article he lists the top 25 2015 recruits.

— And here’s a highlight video (below) by Ballislife on former Washington standout Isaiah Thomas.
