Rainier Beach High senior guard Dejounte Murray, who verbally committed to Washington, plays basketball in a manner that reminds many of former Beach standout Jamal Crawford.
Both are skinny 6-5 shooting guards, but the parallels extend beyond their frame, position and high school.
Murray may not have superior ball-handling ability like Crawford, who garnered the nickname J-Crossover because of his ankle-breaking dribbling skills. However there’s several plays in the latest highlight video by Ballislife (above) when Murray blows past defenders with an array of cross-overs, hesitation moves and slick handles.
He’s also an excellent long-distance shot-maker much like Crawford. Plus, Murray’s athleticism (i.e. high-flying dunks, windmill jams) perhaps exceeds Crawford, who turned 34 this year.
