Washington junior Gilles Dierickx will miss the next 6-8 weeks due to a stress fracture in his right foot.

The 7-0 center who hails from Ghent, Belgium is at the start of his second year with the Huskies after transferring form Florida International. He averaged just 0.2 points and 0.7 rebounds while appearing in 14 games last season.

Dierickx played 11 minutes in last week’s 88-65 exhibition win over Division II Saint Martin’s and finished with three points on 3-for-4 shooting from the free throw line. He also had two rebounds.

Dierickx was expected to help bolster’s UW’s depth on the front line as a reserve behind starters Shawn Kemp Jr. (6-9) and Jernard Jarreau (6-10). The remaining big men include Robert Upshaw (7-0) and freshman Donaven Dorsey (6-7). No other Husky on scholarship is taller than 6-4.
