Video: Nigel Williams-Goss on Eastern Washington

IMG_0361

Here’s video of sophomore guard Nigel Williams-Goss talking about Sunday’s 5 p.m. game between No. 17 Washington (7-0) and Eastern Washington (8-1) at Alaska Airlines Arena.

And here’s a few quotes.

(On handling finals and success this week) “Finals week is always busy whether you have games or not. Some guys are really trying to take their academics seriously and obviously finish the quarter strong. But as far as being ranked, we really haven’t talked about being ranked too much. We just know that we’re playing a really good Eastern Washington team on Sunday and we’re looking to go 8-0. We know that we’re going to have to bring it and we’ve been preparing all week like it’s a championship game on Sunday.”

(On the rankings being a testament to offseason work) “It’s definitely a testament. It’s definitely I guess you  can say like something cool. But like I said at the end of the day we want to keep getting better, keep improving each and every day. So the ranking portion hasn’t went into too much of our preparation for Sunday.”

(On Eastern Washington) “We know that we’re playing a good Eastern Washington team on Sunday. We’ve been preparing all week like it’s a championship game. We know they have a lot of weapons offensively. They score a lot of points so we’re going to have to be dialed in.”

(On defending a team that shoots well from the outside) “Our coaches definitely mentioned it’s a totally different defensive scheme going into it playing against a shooting team compared to last week when they were more of a driving team and an inside team. It’ll be different, but we’ve had a good week to prepare.”

(On last year’s win over EWU) “Both teams have really different teams this year. They’re obviously better than they were a year ago. We’re better than we were a year ago. I think that it’s a totally different game. So we’ve been more focused on what they’ve been doing this year and obviously we’ve changed things around as well.”
