Video: Robert Upshaw on Eastern Washington

IMG_0362

Here’s video of sophomore center Robert Upshaw talking about Sunday’s 5 p.m. game between No. 17 Washington (7-0) and Eastern Washington (8-1) at Alaska Airlines Arena.

And here’s a few quotes.

(On difference between Eastern Washington and San Diego State) “They’re a better team when it comes to shooting. They have five guys that start that can shoot the ball really well. But I think we just play the same principles that we do with any other team. We just got to run them off the three. We got to rebound the ball because they’re pretty sneaky when it comes to that. I think we’ll be fine. I think we’ll stick to everything that we’ve been working on in practice and everything will be good.”

(On fighting complacency after big Aztecs win) “I don’t know. We ran and did everything in practice the right way. It worked. You  don’t see that everyday, but I feel like we’re a good enough team defensively. We can do those things. We can be really, really good in that area.”

(On matchup with EWU Venky Jois) “I just got to go out there and continue to do the same things that I do. Nothing is going to change whether he’s No. 1 in the country or whether he’s 300. I just got to go out there and do the same things that I do. Bring energy. Block shots. Run the floor. Just work hard.”

(On returning to top 25 rankings) “It don’t mean nothing because we’re not finishing. This is not the end of the year. It’s game by game. And that top 25 ranking could be gone in the next two games. It can be taken away that easily. But I feel like if we work hard enough and we continue to do the things that we’ve been doing, it’ll all work out.”
