No. 13 Washington had less than 48 hours to prepare for Monday’s 8 p.m. game against Tulane, but the way the Huskies are playing they probably don’t want to take any time off.

With a win tonight, UW (10-0) would match the best start and the longest winning streak since Lorenzo Romar took over in 2002. The 2005-06 team started 11-0 and finished in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16.

Standing in the way is a Green Wave team riding a 9-game winning streak into Alaska Airlines Arena. Tulane’s 9-1 record looks good in print, but its early success has been built on a schedule filled with patsies. The Green Waves’ only opponent from a power 5 conference was Wake Forest and the Demon Deacons drilled Tulane 71-49 in New Orleans.

Still, it would be foolhardy for the Huskies to take the Green Wave lightly considering Tulane trimmed a 12-point first-half deficit to three midway in the second. Washington never surrendered the lead and won 73-62, but it wasn’t easy.

The Huskies didn’t pull away because they shot just 38 percent in the second half, making 1 of 9 three-pointers. Tulane’s Jonathan Stark also had a career-high 25 points.

The Green Wave have lost 28 in a row to AP top-25 opponents and hasn’t pulled off an upset in 15 years. Unless the Huskies are suffering from a serious Las Vegas hangover, UW’s winning streak and Tulane’s losing streak against ranked teams should continue.

Oddsmakers have established the Huskies as a 14-point favorite. That sounds about right.

THE PICK: Washington 75-61.
