It’s a quick turnaround for No. 21 Washington who return to action tonight at Stanford two days after losing to California in the its Pac-12 opener.

In many ways, the Cardinal pose a similar challenge. Much like the Golden Bears, Stanford is led by the trio of Chasson Randle, Anthony Brown and Stefan Nastic.

However, the Huskies has difficulties handling Cal’s three-man attack of Jordan Matthews (31 points), David Kravish (21 points and 10 rebounds) and Tyrone Wallace (19 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals).

Washington is going to need a team effort to topple Stanford at Maples Pavilion where they’re 7-0 this season. The Huskies are going to have to defend better than they did in the second half Friday when they surrendered 54 points and allowed Cal to shoot 60.9 percent from the field.

They’re also going to have to find a way to shoot better than they did in the second half whey they shot 38.2 percent (13 of 34) from the field. Not sure if coach Lorenzo Romar is overly concerned about UW’s low three-point shooting percentage (27.3 percent, 3 of 11) in its last outing.

Still, the Huskies haven’t mustered more than three three-pointers in the past three games.

Meanwhile, they’ll need to contain Randle, who is the most prolific three-point shooter in Stanford history. He’s tied for first on the school’s all-time three-point list and he’s shooting 35.5 percent this season.

Even during their 11-0 start, the Huskies never proved they could shutdown offensively prolific teams. They surrendered 77 points to Eastern Washington and gave up 81 points to Cal.

Maybe UW’s vaunted defense, which held nonconference opponents to 58.7 points and 33.9 percent shooting, isn’t as vaunted as it would seem.

THE PICK: Stanford 75-71.
