Two streaks converge when Washington meets Arizona State today at Alaska Airlines Arena.
The Huskies have beaten the Sun Devils in the previous eight matchups. Washington has also lost six in a row.
One of those streaks will end and the Huskies are hoping it’s the latter.
A loss today would be devastating for Washington, which plays its next three games on the road.
Unlike Friday’s 86-62 loss to No. 7 Arizona, the Huskies should be able to have more success against ASU’s lineup that features one post player in 6-10 junior Eric Jacobsen. He’s solid, but he’s not imposing.
Washington’s four- and five-guard lineups should be able to get going again. The Huskies have been stymied offensively in the past two games while scoring 62 and 50 points respectively. However, Arizona State is last in the Pac-12 yielding 47.7 defensive field-goal percentage in league play.
Both teams are trying to rebound from losses on Friday and the two-day turnaround should favor the home team. The odds would also appear to favor Washington considering Arizona is 1-9 on the road this season.
However, the Sun Devils are a 2-point favorite.
If the Huskies don’t win today, their losing streak could reach double digits.
THE PICK: Washington 75-65.
